Dear parishioners and friends,

Many of you I know enjoy music and reading. In our Biblical Byways Lent Course this week, (text attached) we bring together both these interests, as we look at some of the psalms. In my introduction I remind you that  ‘the Psalms are among the oldest poems in the world… In life, some of the most important things we want to say remain just a little beyond even our best words. Poetry recognises this, and with precision and economy of language, does its best to point beyond the words to realities that transcend even the heights of our descriptive imagination.’
The psalms were also written to be sung in worship. Jesus himself would have known many of them by heart and would have heard them when he worshipped in the synagogue. I hope you enjoy spending this week with just a small sample of some of the great psalms in the Bible.
Our service of Morning Prayer for tomorrow (text attached) will be available on our YouTube Channel from this evening. It is the 5th Sunday in Lent and the link is here:

I hope you have a good week,

Every blessing,
