Dear parishioners and friends,

I don’t know about you, but I must say it gives me a lift to see the snowdrops and crocuses out and the daffodils about to flower. The slight lengthening of the days helps too.

This Sunday is the 2nd Sunday before Lent, and it is a day when we traditionally focus on the theme of creation at our services. I am delighted to say that I have asked Canon Andrew Orr to be the guest preacher at our online service tomorrow. Andrew may be known to some of you as the chaplain to Midleton College and the priest in charge of Youghal Union. He has also a particular interest in the environment and is chair of an ecumenical group known as Eco-Congregation Ireland. You may have heard me talk about them before. One of our parishioners Gay Elmes, is our link person for Eco-Congregation Ireland in this parish, and she is leading the intercessions at our service tomorrow. One of our keen gardeners, Gordon Jermyn is the reader.

In recent years we have become increasingly aware of our environment and the fragile  nature of the ecosystem upon which we all depend. I hope you enjoy the imagery and music that accompany the service tomorrow and that it will stimulate your own reflection and prayers on this theme. It will be available as always on our YouTube channel from about 7pm this evening. Here is the usual link for your convenience.
