Service for Sunday 11th October, 2020

Dear parishioners and friends,   Today (Saturday 10th) is World Mental Health Day. Mental health is acknowledged and discussed more than ever before. It affects people of all ages. Listening and talking to one another can be really helpful. So today I ask you to lift the phone if you need to talk to someone or if you are doing well, then why not call someone you have not seen for [...]

Genesis Challenge and Parish Cookbook

Dear parishioners and friends,   We have to come to terms with the fact that for the next few weeks it is likely that our four churches will remain closed for Sunday and mid-week services. But that does not mean that we don't stay connected as a parish community. I have set up two ways that this can be done. The first is the Genesis Reading Challenge. I hope that between [...]

26th September, 2020 Newsletter

Dear parishioners,   First of all, thanks to those who attended our Annual General Vestry Meeting for Douglas Union in St Luke's Church on Wednesday evening. Tomorrow the AGM for Frankfield takes place in the church immediately after the 10am service there. (Next Sunday it will be the turn of St Michael's, Blackrock at their 11.30 service). I am conscious that Harvest Thanksgiving is one of the high points of the year for many parishioners and there will be [...]

Douglas Union with Frankfield weekly update 5th September, 2020

Dear parishioners and friends,   Today is National Services Day, and so it was good that at 3pm this afternoon, the bells from some of our churches rang out in tribute to all who serve in our services, as well as for those who continue to work on the front line in our fight against the Covid pandemic.  While I have ceased to record worship and reflections for our parish YouTube [...]

Service and Readings for Sunday 30th August

Dear parishioners and friends,   It is hard to believe it, but exactly six months ago today,  the very first confirmed case of COVID-19 was detected in Ireland. It has been a long six months and life is now very different for us all. However we have adapted, and things which were unthinkable before, are now natural and normal.  The same is true in the parish. Our churches reopened safely in [...]
